Community and Social Impact

On Monday, November 20, The Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation organized a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway event at the Juan Pablo Duarte Community Space in New York City.

In collaboration with New York Presbyterian Hospital, Remitly was able to distribute 1,325 turkeys to those in need. The Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation, conveniently situated inside the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal, served as the location for this event. The terminal provided easy access for community members, where turkeys were distributed in the terminal common space.

Hundreds of families from the community were able to pick up turkeys this Thanksgiving. Families in the Bronx, Washington Heights, and Harlem who were unable to come had turkeys delivered to their homes.

To ensure that the turkeys reached deserving families, Remitly worked closely with local organizations, churches, and community groups to identify and connect with families in need this Thanksgiving.

Remitly is grateful for the support of Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Council Member Carmen De La Rosa, and Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos. Their dedication to serving the community has been instrumental in the success of the Thanksgiving turkey giveaway.
